Instructions to create a custom hierarchy

To create your custom hierarchy, go to the "Create" module in the left-hand menu and click on "Create a hierarchy".

1. Prepare your file before importing

Before importing your hierarchy, make sure your file follows these instructions:

File format and content

  • The file must be in CSV format.
  • Encode the first column "EAN" as a number, without decimals.
  • Use only complete and valid EANs:
    • no letters
    • no "NA" values
    • no empty cells
  • Do not leave any blank cells in the file.
  • You can create up to 10 levels maximum.
  • Do not use line breaks within cells.
  • EANs will be rejected if they are not part of your reference product scope.
  • Remember to update your hierarchy yourself: there is no automatic refresh.

đź’ˇ You can download a CSV template from the platform to start with a correct structure.

2. Import your hierarchy into the platform

1. Click on "Choose a file".

2. Drag and drop the file into the designated area.

3. Enter a name for your hierarchy.

4. Click on Create.

Note: Your hierarchy will be immediately available for use in the different modules as well as in the data extractor.

What should I do if I get an error message?

When importing a file, the platform analyzes its content and generates two types of messages to help you understand what has been taken into account and what needs to be corrected.

Blue messages: non-blocking

The import can continue, but some EANs were not included. This can happen when:

  • EANs are not in the product reference or have had no sales in the last three years.
  • EANs are not within the scope of your organization.
  • Hierarchy level values do not follow the expected format (for example: unauthorized special characters).

Even if some rows are excluded, your hierarchy can still be imported.

A link allows you to open the detailed list of non-imported EANs, including the reason for exclusion. You can also download this list as a CSV for later reference.

Red messages: blocking

Import is impossible until the errors in the file are corrected. These messages appear when the platform cannot process the file correctly, for example:

  • Incorrect file format
  • Empty cells in the file
  • Values that do not comply with import rules

Once the errors have been corrected, you can import the file again.
